John, it’s been a tough last few months for women in America. Republicans in states like Texas, Mississippi, and now here in Florida are writing and passing arcane legislation restricting our right to decide what we do with our bodies.

Enough is enough, John. We must act to codify a woman’s right to choose and elect leaders who will fight for our rights.

Last week also marked an important deadline: the day the Equal Rights Amendment should have become the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution marking two years since Virginia ratified it. While this milestone is momentous for us all, it only reinforces our need to take action to protect our freedoms now.

Too much is on the line for us to remain silent while members of the GOP roll back the clock on all of our progress. Last year, I helped pass legislation in the House to guarantee access to a safe and legal abortion for every American — we need that legislation to become law.

We have a lot to do, John, but nothing is more important than protecting the freedom to do what we want with our bodies. Abortion is a human right, and here in the United States legal and safe abortion should be a given, not a constant fight.
