"G.O.P. Declares Jan. 6 Attack ʻLegitimate Political Discourseʼ"

John, I'm livid.

The Republican Party is now calling the deadly attack on our nation's Capitol building "legitimate political discourse."

You read that right. The Republican National Committee is trying to downplay the deadly insurrection. They've even formally censured Republican Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for serving on the committee investigating the attack.

It doesn't matter how the RNC tries to deny it, facts are facts: Insurrectionists breached the Capitol building and used violence to disrupt our democracy. They attacked police officers. They carried the Confederate flag into the People's House and desecrated the building. Multiple Americans died during and following the attack.

This is about more than politics, John. This is about a defeated President and his supporters refusing to accept the outcome of a free and fair election and attempting to overthrow our government on American soil. Their actions continue to fuel state-led attempts to quash the voting rights of Black and brown Americans to this day. Meanwhile, Donald Trump said he might PARDON those who attacked our nation's Capitol if elected again.

We can't let the RNC, Trump, or his allies rewrite history. They must be brought to justice for their crimes against our democracy. So I'm asking you to act: If you believe the violent insurrectionists need to be held fully accountable for their actions on January 6, 2021, please add your name next to mine.

The House Select Committee on the January 6 attack is continuing their investigation. Because of their efforts and dedication to our country, the truth will be delivered to the American people. We must continue to show them support every step of the way.

In solidarity,

Dwight
