Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 49 | February 5th, 2022 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! Dear Friend, New York Democrats have hijacked the redistricting process and this week passed and signed into law the most filthy, textbook gerrymandering that will destroy competitive elections in New York if allowed to stand. Democrats brazenly subverted the will of the people who voted twice by referendum to take redistricting out of the hands of politicians and give district-drawing powers to an independent, bipartisan panel. Democrats undermined their work every step of the way and always planned to take back control because they know they can't win on the merits of their failed socialist agenda. Make no mistake, this isn’t just a gerrymander, it’s a HOCHULmander. Kathy Hochul said herself that she planned to play a heavy role in trying to gerrymander districts to give Joe Biden the votes he needed in Congress. That's why she swiftly signed these unconstitutional maps into law before the public even had a chance to review them. That's why we are fighting back in the courts. We filed a lawsuit to block this attempt to rig our elections. The law is on our side, but we need to show the courts that we have YOU--the people--on our side too. This is our only hope to stop them. That's why I'm asking everyone to step up and sign our petition by clicking below and consider donating to our cause. Every little bit helps. We cannot let them get away with this. Also, this week we laid another one of our NYPD heroes, Detective Wilbert Mora, to rest. As we continue to mourn with all our law enforcement brothers and sisters, we remain steadfast in our commitment to reverse these dangerous new laws that are destroying families and communities. Instead of coming to New York to pay respect to our selfless heroes, Joe Biden put together a PR stunt to push his liberal agenda on guns and distract from the crisis he and his Democrat Party created. If we are going to return law-and-order to our streets and give our law enforcement the support they deserve, we must change who we elect. I am asking everyone to join us in support of our mission. NYGOP Must See News: Wild Redistricting To Give Democrats More House Seats: ‘Brazen Attempt’ At ‘Rigging’ Election To Keep Pelosi Speaker Daily Wire State Republican Party Chairman Nick Langworthy said in a statement that the map is a “brazen and outrageous attempt at rigging the election to keep Nancy Pelosi as speaker.” “Democrats are circumventing the will of the people,” Langworthy said, according to the New York Post. “For all of their phony protestations about transparency and fairness in elections, what they’re doing is textbook filthy, partisan gerrymandering that is clearly in violation of the New York State Constitution.” “We are reviewing all of our legal options to protect the voices of millions of New Yorkers,” the party chairman said. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/South Brooklyn) and City Council Minority Leader Joe Borelli (R-South Shore) joined New York Republican Party Chairman Nick Langworthy on the 12 p.m. call. Malliotakis and Borelli have voiced support for Mayor Eric Adams’ push to rollback criminal justice reforms of recent years, but Langworthy tried to tie Biden to calls for police defunding, which he’s consistently opposed. “Clearly, as evidenced by today’s visit, Joe Biden is a puppet for the radical left,” Langworthy said. “He’s no longer the guy who supported the 1994 crime bill. He’s a vessel for the anti-police, pro-criminal policies of the radical left.” Read Full Here Democrats suddenly quiet about New York’s gerrymandering Washington Examiner Democrats fear a red wave in November will flip the House of Representatives to a Republican majority. One Democratic defense for their slim five-seat majority is aggressive gerrymandering in states where they control the process. The four redrawn Republican seats in New York could be the tipping point of control for the majority. “These maps are the most brazen and outrageous attempt at rigging the election to keep Nancy Pelosi as speaker,” Langworthy said. A year ago, Democrats were panicked Republicans would flip the House majority through redistricting. Read Full Here GOP leaders lay out details on public safety plans as they continue to pitch 'tough on crime' stance Times Union Republican leaders in New York are sharpening their positions on public safety as they continue to turn to surging crime as a priority ahead of the November election, which is set to feature new federal and state political lines that were drawn by Democrats. U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin, the state Republican Party's desired nominee for governor, offered a public safety plan Tuesday, which featured reversal calls on hot-button criminal justice issues. He is pushing for the state to walk back changes to the state's bail laws, add more discretion for 16- and 17-year-olds accused of crimes, beef up correctional facilities, remove district attorneys who are not line with his view of the law and overhaul parole proceedings. Read Full Here NY redistricting shows Democrats don’t care about voter rights, only consolidating power New York Post Make no mistake: Eliminating Republican competition for elective office was always the Democratic Party’s endgame. The writing was on the wall. Hell, it may as well have been plastered on billboards up and down I-90. “We must win the redistricting war,” New York Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney bluntly told Politico Nov. 30, 2020, three days before he was elected chairman of the powerful Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. When Democratic powerbrokers in Albany emerged from their star chamber Sunday with new “fair and impartial” political maps that resemble a snakes and ladders game, the “war” plan came into complete focus: With one hand, point fingers at Republican-led states across the country and scream “Gerrymandering!” while the other hand erases as many Republican-held congressional seats in New York as possible.
