Team,
Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer has announced his intent to retire. Justice Breyer has served on the Court for more than twenty years. Team Cicilline would like to thank him for his service, and we wish him well in his well-deserved retirement.
Now, President Biden has the opportunity to appoint a Supreme Court Justice who will serve for decades to come.
When he was running for President, President Biden made a campaign promise to appoint a Black woman to the Supreme Court. Here on Team Cicilline, we wholeheartedly urge the President to follow through with his campaign promise.
Since the creation of the Supreme Court in 1789, America has had 115 justices, and 108 have been white men. Having a diverse Supreme Court is crucial for promoting a justice system that is fair, especially as they rule on topics and cases ranging from abortion to affirmative action.
So, team, we have a simple ask for you today: Will you add your voice to urge President Biden to appoint a Black woman to the Supreme Court? [[link removed]]
SIGN ON [[link removed]]This will be a historic moment for America, and a defining moment for the Biden Presidency. It is past time for a Black woman to serve on this nation’s highest court. If you agree, add your name right now. [[link removed]]
Thank you for your support!
— Team Cicilline
