The cost of living is out of control in Hawaii, especially for working families. Since 2018, the minimum wage in Hawaii has stalled at $10.10 per hour, while housing costs have continued to rise along with the cost of healthcare, education, and other necessities.

Hawaii needs a true living wage. A living wage alone won't solve our cost of living crisis — but it’s a step in the right direction.

A True Living Wage

Young people across our state are struggling to afford housing and are being forced to leave Hawaii for the mainland in alarming numbers, searching for greater economic opportunity.

Native Hawaiians are experiencing homelessness at a much higher rate than any other demographic group in our islands. We can’t allow these trends to continue.

An unforeseen crisis can happen to anyone — that’s part of life. But a living wage can help prevent bankruptcy or eviction when someone faces an unexpected medical bill or higher rent.
