Hi folks,
I ran for Senate because I got tired of feeling like folks in Washington were a world away from where I come from. Powerful corporate interests have elevated politicians and left rural communities and family farmers like me in the dust. I felt it was time for that to change.
In Washington, I knew I wouldn’t exactly fit in. After all, I’m much more comfortable wearing a baseball cap and a flannel shirt than I am wearing a suit and tie. But life on my farm has shaped me to be who I am, and it’s taught me some key lessons that I knew would help me deliver for Montanans in the Senate.
The first lesson is that many hands make light work.
Running as a Democrat in a deep red state is always a challenge — and it requires significant resources. But during my last re-election campaign, this grassroots team came together, beat the odds, and helped me win in a state that Donald Trump carried by nearly 20 points in 2016.
It was a remarkable achievement — but it wasn’t a fluke. That same grassroots energy handed Democrats the Senate majority last year, and together, we’ve delivered transformative legislation, like my bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that will create thousands of good-paying jobs and lower taxes for families in Montana.
The other lesson that farm life has taught me is that you reap what you sow.
I haven’t stopped looking for ways to make a difference for folks in rural communities like mine. It’s why I’ve introduced legislation like my Agricultural Right to Repair Act , which will give farmers and producers the right to repair their own equipment — and my Meat Packing Special Investigator Act to hold Big Ag accountable and lower prices for families at the grocery store.
These aren’t the most flashy issues in Washington, but they’re important for folks all over the country. With our Democratic majority, legislation like this has a path forward. But if Republicans win just one seat this November, they’ll take back the majority and keep stalling progress on these critical issues.
That’s why I’m kindly asking you to consider making a contribution to my campaign — so we can sustain the momentum we need to protect our Senate majority this November. Senate Republicans’ campaign arm raised nearly $105 million last year to take back the Senate, so we can’t afford to let our guard down. [[link removed]]
