Hi team,
Last week, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer announced his retirement, providing President Biden with his first opportunity to reshape the nation’s highest court.
First, I’d like to say thank you to Justice Breyer for his nearly three decades of service to the Supreme Court. During his tenure, he was a key vote in many landmark decisions that included protecting same sex marriage throughout our country and upholding critical provisions of Obamacare, among many others.
I am grateful for the perspective Justice Breyer brought to the Supreme Court during the last 27 years.
Second, I want to express my support for President Biden and his historic pledge to nominate the first Black woman to the Supreme Court.
The Biden administration is the most diverse in our country’s history, and of the 42 people the president appointed to the federal judiciary in his first year in office, 33 identify as women, and 29 identify as people of color. And ALL of them are qualified!
When the president said he would reshape America’s institutions to look like America, he delivered.
As we celebrate Black History Month, and we move forward toward the historic nomination of the first Black woman to the Supreme Court, I ask you to join me in this celebration and please sign my petition in support of President Biden’s historic pledge.
