New York Times: Trump Says He Would Consider Pardons for Jan. 6 Defendants if Elected
"In a speech in Texas, the former president also urged supporters to stage protests if prosecutors in Atlanta and New York took action against him."

John,

This time last year, I was serving as one of nine impeachment managers prosecuting Donald Trump for incitement of the January 6 insurrection. One year later, I remain steadfast in my belief that the American people deserve accountability and justice must be served for the violent attacks committed on January 6.

A few days ago, Donald Trump took to the stage and said he would pardon those who attacked our nation's Capitol on January 6. I never thought I'd see a sitting U.S. President attack the very democracy he swore to protect. It's unfathomable that he believes he can come back to the presidency in 2024 and erase the consequences of the insurrection he incited.

One year later, it's clear he's proud of leading the charge on January 6 and that he would happily do it again.

This isn't about politics, John. This is about a refusal to accept the outcome of a free and fair election on American soil and the decision to betray the institutions of our government. Our democracy held, but we can never forget the destruction that came from the attack Donald Trump incited.

January 6 was a stain on the dignity of our nation and his most recent comments threaten to erase the very idea of accountability from the face of the United States. As the investigation into the attack continues, we need to let the House Select Committee on the January 6 attack know that we have their backs.

If you agree the people responsible for January 6 must be held accountable for their actions, add your name to support House Select Committee on the January 6 attack as they continue their investigation >>

Thank you,
