Governor Holcomb is so proud of the humanitarian work we did together, John,

"I think about this journey, that these 7,200 that found their way to Indiana,
this journey away from oppression and a war-torn countryto this place of peace
and promise…"

– Governor Eric Holcomb

John,

Governor Holcomb has worked tirelessly to build a Better Indiana for ALL
Hoosiers, but amidst the crisis in Afghanistan, this administration stepped up
and also opened our state to vetted Afghan allies in need.

As part of Operation Allies Welcome, Hoosiers came together to house, clothe,
and nurture vetted Afghan refugees at Camp Atterbury in South-Central Indiana.

Since first welcoming them with open arms, we have helped settle nearly 7,201
vetted Afghans into a new life in 45 states across America. Just a few months
later, all refugees have now been moved off base at Camp Atterbury.

With Operation Allies concluding, Governor Holcomb held a briefing to discuss
this great humanitarian undertaking.

"Indiana is indeed proud that we’ve been all collectively, from different
walks, from different places, that we’ve been called on to carry out this
unprecedented humanitarian effort.

So as this joint mission does conclude, I do just want to repeat what you’ve
heard. It never would’ve happened without the constant cooperation and
collaboration and commitment of those who cared outside their own space and
place."– Governor Holcomb
