Jack,
February is Black History Month. The past few years have made the scale of injustice against Black Americans all too clear, especially when it comes to voting rights. Modern-day Jim Crow voter suppression laws have been passed in state legislatures all across the country.
We must work together to identify, develop, and promote solutions to further achieve equality in our great state of New Mexico. Equality is achieved through the power of our vote.
Since day one, we’ve been committed to making New Mexico a more equitable place. This starts with a commitment to expand voter access for everyone. When dangerous threats to our democracy arise, we need to fight back with full force. From voter suppression to racist rampages from public servants, we will not allow any attacks on fair elections to take place.
We’re on the front lines letting everyone know that their voices matter whether they’re voting in a school board election or a presidential one. We all have a chance to make a difference through the power of our vote.
Thank you for being a part of it all – and I hope you have a wonderful start to Black History Month.
Thank you,
Maggie
