Tell lawmakers why you support housing for all 🏠

We are fighting for a Washington where we can all afford our everyday needs and pursue our own goals in life. But high rent increases across the state are consuming our monthly budgets and pushing more families into homelessness. To protect their profits, corporate landlords use false narratives to try to influence our lawmakers of who is “deserving” of a place to live and who is not. 

Your lawmakers need to hear why you support fair housing laws and big investments in housing for all.

Senate Bill 5749 prohibits landlords from only accepting rent payments electronically, which often comes with added fees and is only accessible to those of us who have online banking.

House Bill 1904 requires at least six months' notice to increase rent over 7.5%, limits late fees to $75, and allows renters the right to end their lease if they can’t afford an upcoming increase.

“I am one of seven retirees, in a 16-unit community that was issued a rent raise the day the moratorium ended. Rent has increased over $450 per month over four months and is promised to increase an additional $600 for a total increase of more than $1000 per month. This notice has sent six grandmas and one grandpa scrambling for a place to live. We are on fixed incomes and cannot afford these skyrocketing rents. A few of us are on a waiting list for affordable housing. It is a six month wait.”  -Testimony from a public hearing on HB 1904.

House Bill 1866 makes a bold investment to increase supportive housing statewide and creates an innovative model linking health and housing to support people experiencing long-term homelessness and behavioral and/or physical health conditions.
