Two baby goats in a blanket

FEBRUARY 2022

Two Sets of Twins
Born at Sanctuary!

Please join us in welcoming two sets of goat twins! That’s FOUR baby goats!

Late last year, we rescued then-pregnant mothers Autumn and Sadie from a neglect situation in New York. Neighbors next to a rented field noticed the sheep and goats living there had been left without adequate shelter and regular feedings. Some had even died and their bodies were left in the field. There were also intact males, and the population had climbed from a few animals to more than a couple dozen.

But today, we have a happy ending—and a hopeful beginning. Instead of fighting for their lives in the cold, these bright, bouncy youngsters have a warm, safe barn and moms and friends who love them. We’re excited to celebrate all that lies ahead!

Meet the Co-Founders of
“Grow Where You Are” and Awali, Inc.

As we move into Black History Month, take some time to watch last year's important conversation with Black growers JoVonna Johnson-Cooke and Eugene Cooke of Grow Where You Are and Awali Inc. We discussed their journey to veganism, the significance of Juneteenth, and more. “We're all in need of Sanctuary...[and in] providing sanctuary for human animals, it paves the way for all life to have Sanctuary.” - JoVonna.

with Bon Appétit’s First Vegan Chef

Chrissy Tracey is both a vegan chef and a business owner who contributes her excess resources to providing low-income families with plant-based meals. We sat down with Chrissy to discuss how her Jamaican roots influence her cuisine, where she draws her inspiration, and—most importantly—how she continues to stay positive amid the sea changes of our world.
