Freedom is the Pathway Out of the COVID-19 Quagmire

By: Jim Daly

Results of the autopsy of intrusive and overreaching government policies related to the COVID -19 global pandemic are beginning to emerge – and they paint a disturbing and disastrous picture.

A just released Johns Hopkins study concluded lockdowns weren’t effective in reducing mortality rates – and in fact did great damage to the economy along with children’s mental, emotional and academic health. For far too many adults, forced isolation exacerbated loneliness, increased anxiety and drastically diminished quality of life.

These tragic findings are just the tip of the iceberg, I believe. In fact, I think it’s almost impossible to overstate just how detrimental the heavy hand of Big Government will prove to be. I talk with lots of moms and dads, and they regularly lament how closed churches, schools and other shuttered programs fundamentally changed the way their sons and daughters worshiped, learned and socialized. Sadly, some of the changes could be permanent.

Cop Suspended for Praying at Abortion Clinic While Off Duty Wins Cash Settlement

By: Bruce Hausknecht

A 13-year veteran of the Louisville, Kentucky, police department has received a $75,000 settlement from the city for its wrongful suspension of the officer for praying in front of an abortion clinic while off-duty.

Officer Matthew Schrenger was walking up and down a sidewalk in the pre-dawn hours of February 20, 2021, in front of an abortion clinic – the EMW Women’s Surgical Center – as part of the annual 40 Days for Life event. Accompanied by his father, the pair prayed quietly for the victims of abortion. They would alternate wearing a small “40 Days for Life” sign.

The abortion clinic was not yet open for the day, and the streets and sidewalk were nearly deserted. But security cameras at the clinic caught the pair walking and praying, and a video was soon posted to a Twitter account run by abortion promoters affiliated with the clinic.

Later that day when Officer Schrenger reported for duty, he found himself locked out of his work computer as well as from his patrol car computer. That same day, his patrol car was taken away and he was removed from the patrol schedule.

Schrenger was told he was being investigated for violating the department’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) against “protesting.” He was placed on paid administrative leave.

Cooper Kupp Helps the Rams Win NFC Championship. But Faith and Family are His Real Wins.

By: Zachary Mettler

Fans of pro football were glued to their televisions on Sunday, watching the Los Angeles Rams clinch a spot to Superbowl LVI with a 20-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Facing off against the Rams on February 13 will be the Cincinnati Bengals, who beat the Chiefs on Sunday 27-24 in overtime.

Many Christians and conservatives have been put off by the National Football League’s drift into supporting leftist politics over the past several years. And the NFL has suffered as a result, losing millions of would-be viewers.

But despite some player’s antics, other NFL athletes are truly stellar individuals.

One of those individuals is Cooper Kupp, a wide receiver and Number 10 for the Rams.

In an article in Slate, writer Alex Kirshner recounted that in high school, Kupp was “doubted” and “undervalued.”
“When Kupp graduated high school in Washington state in 2012, he did not have a single scholarship offer from the Football Bowl Subdivision, college football’s top division,” he writes.

But Kupp accepted a scholarship at Eastern Washington University (EWU) and quickly proved his mettle.

‘Save Women’s Sports’ – On Your State’s Legislative Agenda?

By: Jeff Johnston

Female University of Pennsylvania swimmers recently told the Daily Mail they were uncomfortable sharing a locker room with swimmer Lia Thomas, born male but now identifying as a woman.

“It’s definitely awkward because Lia still has male body parts and is still attracted to women,” one swimmer on the team told the news outlet.

Even after complaining to their coach and school officials, UPenn failed to protect the women’s privacy. One student said, “The school was so focused on making sure Lia was okay, and doing everything they possibly could do for her, that they didn’t even think about the rest of us.”

Women’s teams want – and deserve – privacy in locker rooms, showers and restrooms. They don’t need those formerly safe spaces invaded by men who claim to be women.

This is just one reason states are moving to protect women’s and girls athletics, passing legislation to “Save Girls Sports.” Also called “Fairness In Women’s Sports Acts,” more than 37 states introduced legislation in 2021 to protect girls and women’s sports in public schools, colleges and universities.

So far, nine states have passed and signed into law such legislation, reports Save Women’s Sports, “a coalition that seeks to preserve biology-based eligibility standards for participation in female sports.”

28 Years Later, Mother Teresa’s Plea to President Clinton Takes on Renewed Significance

By: Paul Batura

The 70th National Prayer Breakfast, scheduled for Thursday inside the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center Auditorium, will look different this year. Unlike in the past, only members of Congress and their spouses, along with President and Mrs. Biden and the Vice President and Second Gentleman will attend.

But it will be precisely twenty-eight years to the day since then 83-year-old Mother Teresa, all 4’10” and 101 pounds of her, stood before the President of the United States at the annual event and spoke truth to power and specifically addressed the evils of abortion.

As the nation anticipates the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Mississippi 15-week heartbeat case, the Macedonian-born Catholic nun’s words take on renewed meaning and significance.

Barely visible behind the lectern that cold February morning, her diminutive figure emerging just above the double microphones, Mother Teresa delivered what many consider the boldest and most consequential speech in the history of the breakfast.

“It is really a war against the child, a direct killing of the innocent child, murder by the mother herself,” she said quietly. “And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts.”
