0220203_a/ Friend,
Last month, I delivered my State of the State
address, laying out a clear set of priorities for the 2022 legislative
session.
This week, my floor leaders introduced legislation to tackle
one of those priorities head on.
Georgia parents are FED UP with being
kept in the dark on the curriculum being taught in our public schools –
it's time to pass a Parents’ Bill of Rights.
As the parents of three
daughters, one who is a public-school teacher, Marty and I have been
extremely concerned about this trend we’ve seen take hold across the
country. In far too many school districts, we’ve seen a concerted push
to indoctrinate our students with divisive ideologies like Critical
Race Theory.
This is wrong and it’s dangerous. As long as I’m
governor, it will not take root in Georgia.
Parents are fighting back,
and it’s time we empower them. They deserve full transparency as to
what’s being taught in their children’s classrooms and a seat at the
table, and their voices need to be heard and respected.
The Parents’
Bill of Rights would ensure that parents have access to instructional
material, requiring those running our schools to provide requested
information. If they are unable to share requested information within
three working days, they will be required to provide a description of
the material and a timeline for its delivery within 30 days.
Today,
I’m asking you to join our fight for transparency in education.
