With time running out to tackle the climate emergency, the next government has to make it an absolute priority.

Dear John

With time running out to tackle the climate emergency, the next government has to make it an absolute priority.

This election is the time for parties to make that commitment. We need to hear the detail of their plans – not just broad promises.

So we're backing a petition launched by Possible and the organisers of the school strikes [1] to call on political party leaders to take part in a TV debate purely focused on climate and nature. With the help of other groups like Greenpeace this petition has already reached over 100,000 signatures. Will you take a minute to add your name?

This debate would be unprecedented but we’re in an unprecedented situation. From flooding in the UK to fires in Australia, extreme weather is already becoming commonplace.

In recent months climate change has shot up the political agenda, as public concern has reached record levels [2]. We need to hear how politicians will act on the most pressing issue of our time, before it's too late.

Labour, Liberal Democrats, SNP and Green Party have already agreed to a live TV debate on climate change. Can you help us tip the scales and get the others on board too?

It’s one month today until the general election. Let’s make every opportunity count.

Thank you so much for your support,
Aaron

NOTES:
[1] Possible, formerly known as 10:10 Climate Action, is a charity that enables people to take practical action on climate change. UKSCN is a student-led environmental organisation supporting global climate strikes.
