** Until every veteran has an ID...

Dear Friends,

As we've shared in previous newsletters, sometimes our jobs include combatting myths around IDs, particularly when discussing veterans. It can feel like we're Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. But that feeling never lasts long, as we're constantly reminded of why we chose to advocate for #FreeIDsForVets ([link removed]) .

Just yesterday, the LA Times published a piece entitled, "Hundreds of tents that lined Venice Beach are gone, but residents say job is far from done. ([link removed]) " As we were reading, this part jumped out to us:

"Hebrank said he has qualified for housing as a veteran and is only waiting to get his California ID. In the meantime, he said, he has been beaten by thugs at a local coffee shop and assaulted by someone trying to steal his leather jacket.

“Every day is a terroristic attack day for me,” he said.

It's a stark reminder of why our campaign is so necessary.

Meanwhile, over at Project ID + Spread The Vote, veterans are still reaching out for help. This is a message from a veteran who needs an ID for medical procedures. His was sent to the wrong address and he didn't have the funds or transportation to get it replaced and didn’t know how to change his address:
He was overjoyed when he was told the organization would help him.

That's just the tip of the iceberg but it's more than enough to keep us going. And of course, we're continually grateful for your ongoing support.
