Chesterfield County plans one intersection with a monster price tag

Recently, Richmond has garnered a reputation as something of a transit wunderkind thanks to its bus route redesign, award-winning Pulse Bus Rapid Transit, subsequent 17% growth in ridership, and the dynamic new CEO at the helm of the Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC). Meanwhile, Chesterfield County⁠—the locality to the city’s south that owns the other half of GRTC⁠—is busting its budget to double down on car culture.

DC will now allow solar panels in historic districts! (Mostly.)

Homeowners may be able to put solar panels on the fronts of their roofs in historic districts, under new sustainability guidelines released by DC’s Historic Preservation Office Friday. HPO may still push homeowners to adjust colors, appearance, and so forth of their panels, but won’t outright prohibit them.

Three pedestrians died over the long weekend in Fairfax and Prince George’s

On Friday night, a pedestrian in Prince George’s County was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Martin Luther King Jr. Highway at Whitfield Chapel Road. On Sunday evening, Fesha Girma, 37 years old, was fatally struck by a driver in Fairfax County while crossing Burke Centre Parkway at Pond Spice Lane. A driver seriously injures a 13-year-old bicyclist in Bethesda

A 13-year-old bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries Friday evening after she was struck by a driver turning onto an on-ramp off Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda.
