Dear Friend,
Could you imagine film and television without music? Musicians are part of the creative team that makes film and television magical, yet the major entertainment companies don’t consider musicians as artists. That’s one reason why you don’t see musicians’ names in the credits.
Actors', writers' and directors' names appear in the credits. Actors, writers, and directors also receive residuals for streaming work, but companies including ABC/Disney, CBSViacom, MGM, NBCUniversal, Sony, and Warner Media refuse to pay residuals to musicians for streaming.
Watch and share this short video that shows what film and television would be like without musicians.
Musicians working in film and television are fighting for a new contract that includes credits and streaming residuals. Negotiations with the media companies resume next week. Support musicians in their fight for fairness by sharing this video.
In Unity,
