Hello --
It's been a little over two years since President Donald Trump announced that he was ending the DACA program, a shameful decision that broke America's promise to immigrant families.
When President Barack Obama created DACA, it offered young people who were brought into the United States as children a chance to get a work visa and even go to college.
More than 700,000 young people signed up, filled out forms and completed background checks.
Today, the Supreme Court of the United States is hearing oral arguments on a case that could determine the future of these 700,000 Dreamers. While I hope the court upholds the promise our government made to them, we don't have to wait for their decision.
In the House, I co-sponsored and helped pass the American Dream and Promise Act — a bill that would provide a pathway to citizenship to Dreamers. But so far Mitch McConnnell has refused to allow a vote on it in the Senate. Will you sign the petition and fight for Dreamers?
Growing up in my household, I was raised to believe that we ought to love our neighbors. Unfortunately, we appear to be living in a time where powerful dark forces have a different plan. We must persist and fight to restore America as a beacon of hope and opportunity for all who call this land home.
The 700,000 Dreamers who are anxiously awaiting the Supreme Court's decision are our neighbors — and they are our coworkers and friends too. They are contributing to our economy and we made them a promise.
America is their home. It goes against our fundamental values to let the Trump Administration deport individuals who were promised they would have a shot at the American Dream.
Add your name and tell Mitch McConnell to pass the American Dream and Promise Act in the Senate immediately.
Thank you,
-Antonio Delgado
