John,
We’re a few days into Black History Month, and while this month is a time to celebrate generations of Black people throughout our global diaspora, it’s also a time to reflect, plan, and act on the policies we know will support and empower Black communities today.
So, I thought I’d take a minute to share my plan to promote racial justice, fight racial inequality, and uplift Black communities in New Jersey and across the country.
Fight to protect voting rights and make sure that everyone who’s been silenced by systemic racism has a voice in our elections
Aggressively combat the threat of white supremacist terrorism
Take real steps to end police violence against Black communities
Reallocate money away from law enforcement and towards social workers, mental health professionals, addiction treatment, and other community support networks
That’s just the beginning, John. But first, to get this done, I need your help to win this race, unseat a do-nothing incumbent, and keep up my fight for racial justice in Washington. If you’re with me, click here to chip in $27 today. [[link removed]]
As a Black woman, I intimately understand the dangers of racism. I’ve experienced it first hand and I’ve seen it on a systemic level. And I’m ready to use my experience as an advocate, an organizer, and a lawyer to eradicate white supremacy and bring true justice to our state and our country.
This Black History Month, I hope you’ll stand with me in my fight to make history as the first Black woman to represent NJ-10 and give our Black communities an unapologetic progressive voice in Congress. Click here to chip in today. [[link removed]]
This month and always, we celebrate and continue the fight.
With Gratitude,
Imani
