It's no secret that The Build Back Better Act faces some uncertainty in the Senate. While senators work out the details, we can't let them lose sight of the need for bold and immediate action to prevent the most catastrophic effects of climate change.

The $555 billion included in the House-passed Build Back Better Act would significantly curb fossil fuel emissions that have been warming the atmosphere -- fueling deadly wildfires, heat waves, and droughts.

These investments are critical in getting more electric vehicles on the road, and more solar panels and wind farms built. It would also ensure that the clean energy technology of the future is made right here in America.

In the months since the House passed the Build Back Better Act, we saw tornadoes in Kentucky kill at least 78 Americans. We saw wildfires in Colorado destroy upwards 1,000 homes. And this week, millions on the East Coast and in the Midwest are bracing for yet another life-threatening winter storm.

The threats posed by the climate crisis are no longer a distant threat -- they are here now.
