Real Justice

John,

In New York City, we helped elect Alvin Bragg, an incredible justice champion as District Attorney in November.

Now he is facing the same push back so many of our electeds have faced for doing exactly what he promised to do — ending the criminalization of low level offenses that are often incentivized by the system that uses jail and prison time as a response to poverty.

Let’s be plain, John. Using prison and jail time as the main way to address crime is disproportionately used against poor Black and brown people and doesn’t keep our communities safe.

Alvin’s barely been in office two months and he’s already facing these kinds of disingenuous attacks. He’s making good on his campaign promises — and we know the worst forces in the criminal legal system are working to ramp up mass incarceration like never before.

From nearly ALL directions, we are seeing unprecedented attacks on our elected DAs for delivering on their promises to end mass incarceration, to stop locking up Black, brown, and poor people, and for addressing the real root causes of crime.

These are ALL attacks used to fuel the fire of a punitive justice system. And the major players in that system are listening.

Help us fight back by donating to our Real Justice DA Defense Fund today and make sure our elected DAs can continue to deliver transformative change for their communities.

John, it's even been hard for us to keep up with these attacks against our elected DAs, because they are coming faster than ever before.

These attacks are a DIRECT response to everything we have accomplished.

Our opponents are seeing that proposals to end cash bail, reduce mass incarceration, stop the prosecution of low level offenses, and so much more are keeping communities safe. And they can’t stand to see their corruption being exposed.

We can address the root causes of harm and keep people safe by electing DAs like Alvin Bragg – who are focused on transforming a punitive, carceral system into one based on restorative justice and investing in communities. DAs occupy a unique position of power to actually IMPLEMENT these policies.

We know more attacks are coming. We need to be ready. Help us tell the truth about our so-called ‘justice’ system and defend our elected justice champions by chipping in to our Real Justice DA Defense Fund today.

Together,

Chris Lazare, Real Justice
