After violating Congress’s insider trading law last month and amid calls by leading Democrats to ban stock trading by members of Congress, Dwight Evans, our opponent, is facing increasing scrutiny from the public.

This week the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote a damning expose on Evans’ massive portfolio of controversial stock holdings.

Evans is estimated to have traded over $572,000 through 57 transactions in less than two years.

Among these transactions are many investments at odds with his public positions: Despite claiming to be a pro-peace Democrat Evans holds shares in Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, and while campaigning on a green platform and a 100% rating from Clean Water Action, he holds as much as $140,000 in shares of notorious polluters like ExxonMobil and Canadian oil sands extractor Suncor.

John, we deserve so much better than Dwight Evans representing us in DC. When I am elected to Congress (with your help!), you will never have to question if I’ll be using my position to make money at the expense of my constituents. Can you please chip in $5 today to my campaign for US Congress?

If elected, I won’t own any stocks and I will stand alongside Democrats like Senators Ossoff and Warren who are pushing for members of Congress like Rep. Evans to be banned from owning individual stocks.

Evans is not on our side and his Jekyll and Hyde public positions and stock holdings show that his interests are not with working Philadelphians but rather the corporate interests whom he is heavily invested in.

Evans’ trading activity is a symptom of the corruption that is tearing our Democracy apart and diluting the already dwindling credibility of our institutions. It's time to unseat members of Congress like Dwight Evans before it's too late for our Democracy.
