John,
Frontline communities in Appalachia are facing threats to their health and safety from a sprawling 303-mile-long fracked gas monstrosity – the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
The Mountain Valley Pipeline has been steamrolling its way through Virginia and West Virginia. But the U.S. Court of Appeals has invalidated two MVP key permits in last few weeks, including one this morning meant to protect fish and wildlife. We have momentum and have one more fight before we can shut down the Mountain Valley Pipeline for good.
Right now the Army Corps of Engineers is reviewing a key water permit that could decide the future of this disastrous project. And the Biden administration has the authority to deny key permits and stop this pipeline project in its tracks.
Call President Biden at 1-855-572-9495 and ask him to deny a key water permit for the Mountain Valley Pipeline! Calling can have a big impact, and it only takes a minute. Here's how:
1. Call 1-855-572-9495 to be connected to the White House public comment line. Please note, you must call between the hours of 11 am - 3 pm ET (8 am - 12 pm PT) Tuesdays - Thursdays while the phone line is open.
2. When someone answers or if you reach voice mail, provide your name and zip code, then say:
"I am calling to ask President Biden to deny the Mountain Valley Pipeline’s 404 permit. This project is a threat to the nation’s water supply and violates the Clean Water Act. Please deny this permit. Thank you."
The Mountain Valley Pipeline is an environmental disaster in the making. It will pump an additional 90 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere every year (the equivalent of 23 new coal plants). And the communities closest to the pipeline – many of them lower income communities and communities of color – will be hurt the most.
President Biden campaigned on a platform of bold climate action. But one year into his presidency, we’ve heard more words than seen action on climate. It’s time for President Biden to match his rhetoric with executive action!
We need our elected leaders to show courage by ending the expansion of fossil fuels and standing up to Big Oil & Gas. With one quick call, you can help demand that the Biden administration acts now to stop the Mountain Valley Pipeline and help curb climate chaos.
Please call President Biden today at 1-855-572-9495 and urge him to help lead the fight for our climate by denying the Mountain Valley Pipeline its 404 permit!
This is a critical opportunity for the Biden administration. The federal government must demonstrate its commitment to protecting people from the destruction and pollution of this massive fracked gas monster.
Our climate future simply can’t include the Mountain Valley Pipeline. The fossil fuel era is over, and it’s time for President Biden to get on board.
I hope you’ll join me today by calling 1-855-572-9495 to urge President Biden to deny a key water permit for the Mountain Valley Pipeline!
Thanks for taking action,
Jorge Aguilar
