Dear Colorado Republicans,

It's a great week to be a Republican in Colorado! Biden, Bennet, and Polis keep falling in the polls as citizens across our great state realize Democrat policies are hurting their families, crushing their businesses, and increasing their prices. We're paying a lot more and getting a lot less.

This week, the Democrats in the legislature had a perfect opportunity to show they care about what our families have to pay when we have an unexpected health crisis. Sen. Sonnenberg sponsored ([link removed]) a bill to bring transparency to hospital pricing, but -- on a party line vote -- Democrats killed it in committee. It's these kind of unacceptable votes -- that stomp on transparency and accountability -- that is going to lead Colorado citizens to reject Democrats at the polls in November.

Last week, the Colorado GOP sponsored a U.S. Senate debate. Our top three straw poll winners were Gino Campana, Deborah Flora, and Eli Bremer. You can see full results here. ([link removed]) We also sponsored a Strategy and Messaging Training ([link removed]) for candidates across the state. Republicans continue to create solutions that will make Colorado affordable again, prioritize public safety, and expand education options for everyone.

I hope you saw that John Kellner entered the race for Attorney General. He's the only Republican candidate so far -- and an absolutely excellent one. As the DA for the 18th Judicial District, he won a tight race in 2020, represents over one million Coloradans, and is strong on crime. Please check out John's website ([link removed] ([link removed]) ). This is a must-win race!

Thanks for staying in the fight!

** Colorado lawmakers debate a bill that would require hospitals to allow patients to have a visitor

Denver Channel: ([link removed]) Colorado lawmakers debated a bill Tuesday that would require hospitals to allow patients to have a visitor with them, even during a pandemic.

Senate Bill 22-053 ([link removed]) would require hospitals, nursing care facilities and assisted living residences to permit patients to have at least one visitor during their stay.

“It's never good to allow someone to die alone, and so this is to address that and figure out how do we work that fine line in a pandemic,” said bill co-sponsor Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg (R-Logan). “One family member or one person that can help that patient, I don't think that's too much to ask.”

The bill would also prohibit these facilities from adopting policies that prohibit visitation for the sole reason of reducing the spread of diseases.

Request denied for audit of COVID testing contracts
[link removed]

Denver Gazette ([link removed]) : An audit request from Sen. Rob Woodward, R-Loveland, for two contracts between the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and two labs handling COVID-19 testing was turned down on a 4-4 tie by the Legislative Audit Committee.

The committee is half Democrat, half Republican, hence the potential for a tie vote.

Woodward first submitted the audit request to the committee last July but withdrew it in October after facing a potential “no” vote.

As first reported by The Denver Gazette last year, the first contract was with Curative Labs, which snagged a $90 million, no-bid contract with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to provide surveillance testing in Colorado nursing homes in 2020, where one of every 15 residents died from the coronavirus.
