John, Emerge women win. Women of the New American Majority win. Black women win. That’s not an opinion. It’s a fact that our alums have proven over and over again. But there’s still a problem. 

Right now, there are ZERO Black women in the Senate. ZERO Black women have been elected governor. And at every level, naysayers, pundits, and so-called experts are still “skeptical” of Black women candidates.

Right now, five Black women are running for governor – and up to 20 could be on the ballot for critical Senate races in the midterms. But that still leaves a huge gap to fill in Congress, in state legislatures, and in local government all over the country. 

If we’re going to close that gap, build serious representation, and elevate Black women to positions of real decision-making power, we must expand our programs to reach as many grassroots leaders as possible – and help them fight racist and sexist hate on the campaign trail and in office.
