Long Time Ohio TEA Party Leader Jim Green has Passed

It is with deep sorrow that we must announce that long time Ohio TEA Party leader Jim Green from Tiffin, OH passed away this week. Jim was the Treasurer of the Ohio Liberty Coalition since its founding and was a strong leader of his local TEA Party group in Tiffin.

While Jim was not as publicly visible as other state liberty group leaders over the years, behind the scenes he was often the glue that held it all together, providing sound guidance and advice for those of us who too often wanted to act before thinking things all the way through. He help organize and run our many statewide events over the years and was alway there to help the President and Board Members with any activity the OLC was engaged in. He was a huge asset to me as President of the Ohio Liberty Coalition in our fight against the IRS Targeting of the TEA Party which we won in court. He kept our financial records and filed our federal reports to make sure everything we did was "by the books".

Jim was a graduate of Radner High School in PA. He was also a United States Navy Veteran serving during Vietnam. Jim was a retired State Farm Agent for forty-three years. He was the President of the Tea Party in Tiffin, a member of the John Birch Society and the NRA.

He is survived by his wife Janice and his three daughters, Julie (Brian) Snyder of Ashtabula, OH, Joyce (Scott) Martin of Cheektowaga, NY, Jacqueline Green of North Tonawanda, NY, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jim was one of only four Ohio Liberty group leaders to receive the OLC's highest award - the Spirit of Freedom Award in 2019. His local TEA Party group in Tiffin was very active and had many successes at the local level electing conservative representatives at various levels of government. Jim also worked consistently to promote the John Birch Society and to promote the goals of the National Rifle Association.

He will be missed greatly by all of us in the Liberty Movement in Ohio who knew him and loved him. He will live on in our memory and in our daily lives as everything we do going forward was influenced and shaped by our friendship with Jim Green over the years. May he rest in peace.
