Friends -

I wanted to be sure you had a chance to see this Q4 memo that our campaign released this week.

This team has a lot to be proud of. And as someone who has contributed to Mandela, you have played a critical role in our campaign's success so far.

I hope you'll take a moment to read through the memo, and then contribute to help Mandela stay on the path to victory.

It's going to require a lot of hard work and commitment to send Mandela to the Senate. But I know we can do it if we're all in this together.

Re: Mandela Barnes Continues Record-Setting Pace in Wisconsin

Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes once again massively outraised his Democratic opponents in Q4 2021 and even raised more than his top 3 opponents combined. Mandela’s impressive $1.23 million haul outpaced even his record-setting Q3 2021 numbers, and critically, Barnes outraised incumbent Senator Ron Johnson for the second quarter in a row.

Lt. Governor Barnes’ Q4 total included over 27,000 contributions from nearly 18,000 individual donors, with an average donation of less than $44. Mandela has received donations from every single one of Wisconsin’s 72 counties, further underscoring his grassroots strength across Wisconsin.

Mandela took no money from corporate PACs and is not self-funding his campaign.

The most recent report confirms what multiple public and private polls have shown, that Mandela is the clear favorite and the only Democrat who has built a statewide coalition capable of defeating Ron Johnson.

POLLING SHOWS MANDELA FAR AHEAD OF DEMOCRATIC CHALLENGERS, STRONGEST AGAINST JOHNSON

Recently released polling shows Mandela leading with 40% of the vote, just 1% shy of Governor Evers' vote share in the 2018 gubernatorial primary. Mandela leads the rest of the field by 29% and is far and away the most popular and well-liked Democrat in the field.

After voters are given equal information about all of the candidates, that lead grows to 46% for Mandela compared to Alex Lasry’s 14%, Tom Nelson’s 13%, and Sarah Godlewski’s 12%. Critically, Mandela is also the overwhelming second choice for current Lasry, Nelson, and Godlewski voters.

In a general election matchup, Mandela begins the race tied with Ron Johnson 43-43, while Godlewski trails 41-44 and Lasry trails 41-45. Mandela is the only candidate tested who received net-positive favorability ratings from general election voters statewide.

After voters hear a short paragraph about Mandela’s background, he jumps into a 50-45 lead over Ron Johnson.

MANDELA GETS BIG BOOST FROM STATE & NATIONAL ENDORSEMENTS

Mandela is the ONLY candidate in the race who has earned significant support from prominent state and national Democratic leaders.

- Senators Elizabeth Warren & Cory Booker
- House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, and over a dozen members of Congress.
- Congresswoman Gwen Moore – the only member of Wisconsin’s congressional delegation to endorse in this race.
- 14 state legislators – more than all other candidates combined.
- Over 120 mayors, county executives, and local elected officials – more than the rest of the field by a wide margin.

This support is a testament to the work that Mandela has done in every corner of Wisconsin, and the trust he has built up as a leader who will fight for every single community in the state.

DEMOCRATIC LEADERS CALL ON WISCONSINITES TO UNITE BEHIND MANDELA

Last month, over 60 elected leaders across Wisconsin signed an op-ed calling on Democrats across Wisconsin to unite behind Mandela so we can beat Ron Johnson once and for all. Some key sections below:

Barnes’ story and experiences can inspire people across Wisconsin, bridging the racial, geographical and political divides. He can connect with voters of this state in a genuine and credible way because so many of their experiences are his experiences. Voters are tired of leaders who don’t understand what working Wisconsinites face — they want a senator who represents them and understands both their struggles and their hopes for the future.

Over the past five months, Barnes has built a broad coalition of grassroots support across Wisconsin, larger than the rest of the Democratic field combined. He’s earned endorsements from over 100 local leaders in every part of Wisconsin, from mayors to county executives, from state senators to school board members. In his first three months in the race, he outraised all of his opponents combined and did it with grassroots donations, not corporate PAC money.

Across the state and the country, people are coming together because they believe in Barnes and what he will bring to the United States Senate.

PROMINENT GROUPS COME OUT BIG FOR MANDELA

While staying sharply focused on building a broad coalition of grassroots support in Wisconsin, Mandela is proud of the overwhelming support he’s received from prominent groups that are leading the fight for change at the national level.

Here are some of the groups that have endorsed Mandela:

MoveOn
Indivisible
End Citizens United
Let America Vote
Democracy for America
Vote from Home
Collective PAC
Congressional Black Caucus PAC
Working Families Party
PCCC
Way to Lead
People for the American Way
Center for Popular Democracy
Democratic Lt. Governors Association
We Have the People PAC
The Next 50

These groups will be critical in ensuring that Wisconsin has the resources it needs to energize and turn out voters in 2022.

CONCLUSION:

When Lt. Governor Barnes kicked off his campaign in late July, he said he would build a broad grassroots statewide coalition to defeat Ron Johnson and flip this seat in November. His record-setting fundraising numbers and outpouring of support from across the state continue to prove he is doing just that.

Mandela Barnes is running in one of the most competitive Senate races in the country. And it's going to take an incredible amount of work and resources to flip this seat for Democrats.

That is why we are asking:

Can you contribute $3 for Mandela Barnes today? He's counting on people like you to fund this campaign.
