A hard-working and?caring individual is required to write and update Education, Health & Care Plans and other statutory documents that support children and young people with special educational needs/disabilities (SEND).?EHC Plans are legal documents that underpin much of our team's work and this post plays a key role in enabling us to meet our statutory duties. The post involves: writing and amending EHC Plans, as well as decisions not to assess and decisions not to issue an EHC Plan (ensuring they are compliant with DfE statutory requirements and deadlines), advising and liaising with education settings and other services/agencies around the content of EHC Plans and reviews, and producing data/statistics.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:?
  • An in-depth knowledge of DfE statutory requirements around SEND, especially in relation to EHC Plans and reviews, as well as knowledge of the work of the Children & Adults Department, including?Nottingham City's SEND policies and multi-agency working.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues faced by?families of children/young people with SEND, focusing on ensuring a child-centred approach.
  • A high level of literacy and good numeracy skills (GCSE A-C/4-9 or equivalent in English & Maths), with skill in analysing and conveying complex information in a clear, succinct manner, taking account of different audiences. A keen attention to detail and a creative approach to problem-solving are vital, as is proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • The ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure to tight deadlines, doing so on?your own initiative without?requiring a high level of supervision. Being highly skilled in organising, planning and prioritising your own workload is therefore essential.
  • Knowledge of data protection requirements and experience in applying these when dealing with confidential information.
  • Skill in communicating effectively with a diverse range of people in a courteous, efficient manner in person, writing and on the phone,?delivering high standards of customer care. This includes the?ability?to be assertive and deal with difficult situations in a calm, sensitive, diplomatic manner.
  • Ability to work co-operatively and flexibly as part of a team, demonstrating a postive 'can do' attitude and partaking in an office rota to ensure phone cover during office hours.

PLEASE NOTE:
Our team is based across?two sites?(Loxley House, Station St, Nottingham and Woolsthorpe Depot, Woolsthorpe Close, Bilborough). THE POSTHOLDER WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK ACROSS BOTH SITES IN LINE WITH SERVICE REQUIREMENTS.
