Earlier this week, we heard that our first challenger's quarterly filings
became public and the numbers showed that he maxed out his own campaign,
along with giving himself a loan of $37,500.

Meanwhile, Jamaal is an educator who grew up in public housing. He can't
afford to write himself five figure checks or call up wealthy friends when
his campaign needs an extra boost.

This is what we're up against,
John. Self-funding from wealthy,
establishment candidates who are trying to stop our movement at every
turn. There's no doubt we'll be seeing more and more cases of wealthy
opponents using their own money in tandem with corporate PACs to bankroll
their campaigns against ours.

But it's clear that we have one thing that these opponents don't have —
the overwhelming support of the grassroots.

For the past few weeks, we've been sharing our campaign plans in light of
the newly proposed redistricting maps, new challengers to Jamaal's seat,
and more importantly how we plan to increase our voter outreach and
campaign efforts well before Election Day. The best way we can prepare for
these inevitable fights ahead is by ensuring that our fundraising can keep
pace with our proactive outreach plans and campaign growth.

As a grassroots campaign, we can't afford to loan our campaign tens of
thousands of dollars to keep from going into the red. Instead of relying
on predatory corporate PACs who steamroll our progress, we rely on the
power of the people to keep our momentum growing.

Grassroots campaigns like ours have moved mountains in the fight to bring
progressive leadership to Congress, and we're proud to be a part of the
blue wave. It's crucial that we continue to double down on our grassroots
efforts and continue to grow our momentum all the way to Election Day.
