Last week we found out that after a long and illustrious career of being a voice for justice and equity on the Supreme Court, Justice Stephen Breyer decided to retire.

I am so grateful to Justice Breyer for his service to this country. He was a staunch defender of America's civil rights and our right to abortion care. The nation owes him a tremendous debt and we must now honor his legacy by ensuring that a progressive Justice will take up the mantle and continue the fight for Americans everywhere.

In 2020, President Biden promised that he would nominate the first Black woman to be a candidate for the Supreme Court bench. This appointment will be historic and a long time coming for our nation.

With so much on the line, from protecting Roe v. Wade to defending our democracy, it's imperative that we ensure that our judicial heritage of equality and fairness is not further tarnished by the conservative majority. As President Biden deliberates on who he will nominate to be on the highest court of the land, it's important that he has our support during the confirmation process.
