John,
After an impactful 2021, Issue One is carrying that same energy into the new year with a busy January full of new podcast episodes, research reports, videos, and op-eds to support our efforts to fix our political system and strengthen our democracy.
And on top of that — in the face of opposition from election deniers — we’re making some progress on reform legislation. For example, in the wake of the failure of critical voting rights legislation, we didn’t give up and kept pushing. Now there’s a bipartisan group talking about election reforms, beginning with updating the Electoral Count Act, one of Issue One’s signature pieces of legislation that we’ve been leading on since January 6, 2021.
Here are some more examples of what we’ve been doing to push our legislative agenda forward:
-
Released episode three of our “Truthtellers” video series, tackling the sham Arizona election “audit” and explaining how the math undermines the narrative of a fraudulent election.
-
Dropped a new “Swamp Stories” episode that explores how leadership PACs have been used by some lawmakers as a ticket to a more lavish lifestyle — with much of this money coming from corporations looking to curry favor with members of Congress.
-
Published a new report that underscores the extent to which congressional staffers are widely and consistently undercompensated for their work, especially in entry-level positions, and why Congress should raise its pay floor to help the legislative branch better reflect and serve the American people.
-
Wrote three op-eds about how we can strengthen our elections and protect the freedom to vote in 2022 and beyond.
And your support of Issue One helped make all of this possible.
While we’ve had a great January, we have an even bigger plan for the rest of the year to strengthen our elections, protect election officials and poll workers, prevent election sabotage, and hold bad actors accountable. Learn more about our accomplishments and check out our plans for the year in our brand new flipbook!
Thanks for all you do,
