John,

February is Black History Month.

During this month, we should take time to recognize and celebrate Black Americans’ many contributions and their sacrifice and bravery on their journey to justice in our nation. We must work together to identify, develop, and promote solutions to further achieve equity in our great state of Michigan.

Since day one, we've been committed to fighting racial injustice in our state.

From giving thousands of people a “Clean Slate” and access to more opportunities to protecting the right to vote to fighting for the kitchen-table issues, we’re working to make Michigan a more equitable place, especially for Black Michiganders.

There’s so much work to still be done, but together, we can continue the fight against racial injustice in our country. Together, we can keep moving Michigan forward for all.

Let’s get it done,

Gretchen Whitmer
