Jack, as Senate Democrats gear up for a fight to confirm President Biden's Supreme Court nominee with a fragile majority and guaranteed Republican opposition, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is coming under fire for an alleged lack of discipline from ... Kyrsten Sinema.
No, I'm not kidding—the person who sunk her own party's voting rights bill is whining about how Schumer runs the chamber:
I'm sick and tired of Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. We can make them irrelevant and still have the power to confirm President Biden's nominees if we expand our Senate majority this fall—and we have a roadmap to do just that. That's why I'm asking you to chip in $1 to each of these six Senate Democratic nominee funds in states where Republicans are playing defense.

Jack, this is going to be a short email because I'm going to put it to you simply:
-
Right-wingers have a 6-3 supermajority on the Supreme Court, putting Roe v. Wade, Obamacare, voting rights, LGBTQ rights, and everything else we care about in peril.
-
Democrats need a Senate majority to confirm someone to the Supreme Court because Mitch McConnell showed in 2016 that he was more than happy to keep a court seat vacant for an entire year if a Democratic president was set to fill that seat. He's promised a similar blockade should the GOP take back the Senate.
-
Right now, Democrats have the thinnest of possible margins—an evenly divided 50-50 Senate with Vice President Kamala Harris acting as tie-breaker.
-
With Justice Stephen Breyer's retirement, the oldest judges on the court will be ultraconservatives Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito (both in their 70s). Democrats could change the ideological makeup of the court if either of them were to leave their seats during a Democratic administration.
Democrats need to hold on to the Senate this fall—in fact, we need to expand our majority so that we can make Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema irrelevant. Republicans are playing defense across the map this November, defending a half dozen more seats than Democrats are, including several open seats where Republican incumbents are retiring.
Daily Kos has identified six seats Democrats can flip in November. Please take one minute right now to chip in $1 to each of the Democratic nominee funds in these states. Every dollar you donate to these funds will be automatically transferred to the Democratic nominee after they win the primary in their state.
