My name is Jackie McGowan. I'm the dirt-road Democrat running to keep the Democratic hold on Illinois’s 17th Congressional District.

Last year, the Congresswoman for our district, Cheri Bustos (D-IL), announced that she would not be running for reelection. If you aren’t familiar with Illinois’ 17th Congressional District, it is one of the few Democratic-leaning seats in the country to have voted twice for Obama and twice for Trump.

Congresswoman Bustos, a Democrat, was able to hold this purple seat while it went for Trump because of her lifelong commitment to people over party. Now it’s on us to continue her legacy.

I'm running for Congress because rural Illinoisans need a fighter.

I’ve waited tables and lived off tips, worked in finance helping working families make money on the market, and have served as an advocate and business consultant for the cannabis ecosystem in rural Illinois and across the nation.

Today, as our country and Illinois face so many challenges, I’ve come back home to be a part of the fight to defend *our* democracy and work with all Illinoisans to build a stronger economy, resilient communities, and protect our environment to ensure that our state continues to be as dynamic and full of opportunity as when my family arrived in this district over a century ago.
