Friends, I hope you can spare a minute – and a few dollars. Here’s why:

New reports show that greenhouse gas emissions climbed by a shocking 6% last year. And it was the fourth warmest year ever recorded in the United States.

We had an ambitious goal of raising $10,000 by the end of January to accelerate our advocacy work and make sure this year is different. Unfortunately, we came short of meeting this goal. But there’s still time to ensure we have the resources to meet this moment.

EMERGENCY FUNDRAISING DRIVE

California Environmental Voters has EXTENDED our first fundraising deadline of 2022 to midnight, tonight.

We missed our $10,000 goal. But there's still time to help!

We do have some good news though, and a shining example of what we can do together:

Thanks to YOUR support, we just succeeded in getting SB 260, the Climate Corporate Accountability Act, passed in the California State Senate!

The bill would require large billion-dollar corporations that conduct business in California to publicly disclose their carbon emissions in a clear and transparent way.

While the bill still needs to make it through the California Assembly before it gets to the Governor’s desk, this is a HUGE first step in holding corporate polluters accountable.

The truth is, just 100 corporations are responsible for 71% of ALL global industrial carbon emissions. Our work to end the climate crisis MUST include holding these corporations accountable – and the passing of SB 260 proves that we can do that with your help.

But we need to keep up the momentum. We missed our January fundraising goal and need your support now more than ever. Please make a one-time or monthly gift to help us close in on where we need to be to advocate for climate action.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

With your help, California can and will become an environmental leader in the race to save our environment.

Thank you for caring about our environment.
