Every candidate for public office must face a basic question—what type of campaign will I lead and run? In this blog post, I explain my answer. In short, my approach to this campaign (like my prior one) is to elevate our debate and engage people.
How we campaign for office shows how we will lead and govern once we are in office. I believe that we should focus on ideas, not personal attacks. That’s why I invite my opponent to join me in elevating our debate and respecting our fellow Coloradans with that kind of leadership. Too often, politics is divisive, deceptive, and even mean-spirited. We have the chance to do better in Colorado.
To govern effectively, we must listen to and engage Coloradans from every corner of our state. As a candidate, and again as Attorney General, I visited every one of Colorado’s 64 counties. We must commit to serving all the people of Colorado. I invite my opponent to join me in that commitment and do the same.
How we campaign and treat one another determines whether we can continue to uphold our nation’s democratic values. I know that you believe in these values. To help our campaign uphold and advance them, please consider contributing today. By doing so, you can help honor our commitment to serve the people of Colorado and focus on solving problems together.
