Yes, the Progressive Caucus was right, Republican corporate donors managed to seduce enough Democrats to split President Biden’s comprehensive Build Back Better Act, which was truly bipartisan (supported by both Democratic and Republican voters), to carve out a so-called Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework (corporate-friendly, so it got some Congressional Republicans’ votes). The BIF will at least bring some good jobs and some climate action to every state, along with long-overdue infrastructure repairs.
While President Biden’s Build Back Better proposal remains stalled in the Senate, it has been uplifting to learn that the Sustainable Energy and Environment Subcommittee (a coalition of seventy-nine climate-conscious House Democrats) has formed three task forces to work on including robust climate action in all must-pass legislation, including annual policy and appropriations bills.
Tell your Members of Congress (MoC) to support all the efforts of these task forces because the climate emergency cannot wait.
Tell Attorney General Merrick Garland: Investigate Donald Trump and Associates for the January 6 Insurrection
We have heard various observers of the Department of Justice assessing Attorney General Garland’s progress (or lack thereof) in the investigation of the attempted coup in January 2021. Dear Attorney General Garland:
We appreciate all the investigative work the Department of Justice has conducted under your leadership to bring to justice and prosecute the individuals involved with the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, as summarized in your report on the one-year anniversary of that attack.
I am writing to you today to remind you and your colleagues at the DoJ that this was a highly planned and carefully orchestrated attack on our democracy and not just a physical attack on the US Capitol. I am urging you to pursue with vigor the investigation of all those who planned these attacks, including former president Trump and his close cronies and political henchmen, and prosecute them for their actions during and after the 2020 elections.
Former President Trump, as evidenced by public recordings, has been directly involved in attacking the integrity of US elections, which as you are aware is a federal crime. As such, I ask you to prosecute former president Trump to the fullest extent permitted by law and not delay or deny such prosecutions out of concerns that they would be perceived as politically motivated. The mob attack led by the former president was a political attack and your job is to prevent such events from happening again.
Thank you for guarding our democracy.

There’s an election happening RIGHT NOW here in San Francisco! There are less than two weeks left and only 1 in 8 SF voters has cast their ballot.
You should already have your ballot—it looks like this:
If you’re registered to vote but haven’t gotten it yet, check on that. You can either request a resend through the Voter Portal or go vote in person.
Got your ballot already? BEFORE YOU SEAL THE RETURN ENVELOPE:
- Did you mark your choices on your ballot? (Remember that there are races on both sides!)
- Did you put the ballot in the return envelope?
- Did you sign and date the return envelope, and write your name and address (where you are registered to vote) on it?
You can return your ballot by mail, by using any official drop box, by going to City Hall, or (as the end of the election draws closer) by going to any voting center or (on the very last day) any polling place in the City.
