Friends,

This Veterans Day, I hope you’ll join me in taking a moment to thank the thousands of veterans who have served this country.

I believe deeply in service: Service to community, family, faith, and above all, to country. To all the men and women who have answered the call to serve their country, I am grateful for your service and inspired by your patriotism. 

There is much more we must do to support our veterans when they return home. I’m honored to be working toward some of these solutions in Congress: to address the high rate of suicide across the country including in our veteran communities, and make it easier for our veterans to receive the care they need without incurring unnecessary medical debt or waiting for inexcusable delays by the VA. I also voted to improve access to child care for veterans’ households, making it easier for them to keep VA appointments and take care of their children, and cosponsored a retirement savings bill that fixed an unexpected and unfair higher tax rate imposed on survivor benefits for children of service members. 

Our veterans represent the very best of our country. I’m committed to living up to their promise.
