John, today marks the beginning of Black History Month.
But we know that every day is an important day to celebrate and acknowledge all of the work that Black history makers in St. Louis have done and continue to do to advance our vision for racial justice.
The modern movement in defense of Black lives was born on the streets of Ferguson. St. Louis elected the first Black woman to represent Missouri in Congress. And it’s because of all of your love and support from St. Louis that Cori is able to advocate for the bold, anti-racist policies we need in Congress.
We came here to Congress to save Black lives and livelihoods, and that’s what we’re going to do. So in honor of Black History Month, we want to make it loud and clear that it’s time for reparations. It’s time to remove white supremacists from our government. It’s time we address the health disparities Black mothers, pregnant people, and children face. It’s time we end the cycle of police violence and systemic racism that pervades our communities.
