Friends —

Today is the first day of Black History Month, a time for our country to celebrate and reflect on the critical contributions of Black communities and the actions of Civil Rights leaders, who continue to provide inspiration for the work that remains to be done.

Just a few weeks ago, I participated in celebrations of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the cities of Hammond and Valparaiso. In honor of Dr. King, we reaffirmed our commitment to advance voting rights legislation and ensure that everyone has an equal ability to exercise their right to vote.

This Black History Month, let us all take time to remember and continue to learn from the hard work of the Civil Rights leaders who came before us, and recommit to creating a more equal and just society for everyone.

Sincerely,— Frank J. Mrvan
