Missouri Net News [link removed] Beloved Community
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s beloved community exhibits agape love, which, as the love of God operating in the human heart, seeks to “preserve and create community.” Christ’s mature followers love each other as well as those who persecute or do evil against them. Christians confront hate with love because agape love derives its essence from the cross of Christ, which brings redemptive power. This love does not accept injustice or evil as acceptable. Rather, it loves by way of justice, which ensures equity in access, participation, and flourishing for everyone. The United Methodist General Commission on Religion and Race is sharing a resource that defines the traits of a Beloved Community at [link removed] [link removed].
Sabbath Sunday Resources
The Missouri Conference developed resources for local churches to use when the pastor is not available. The resources were initially developed to encourage a Sunday off, but can also be used in times of illness, quarantine, difficult weather or other unforeseen absences. MOAC22 Standing Rules Reminders
The Rules and Procedures Committee of the Missouri Annual Conference offers a reminder about rules related to resolutions. All resolutions from individuals, congregations, or groups other than councils, teams, committees, or boards of the Missouri Conference must be in the office of the Director of Connectional Ministries before 5:00 p.m. on April 15 in order to be considered by the approaching session of annual conference. Standing Rules related to this process are found in Rules 201.05-201.25 in the [link removed] 2021 Standing Rules.
