Resolution for Sunsetting the Community Councils [from Chris Randels]
-
HB 1769: Seeking to sunset the Community Councils.
-
Resolution Passed: 8-0
-
Why does this matter?
-
Community Councils are legislative bodies that exist to veto land use decisions. The only two remaining in Washington state are in Kirkland and East Bellevue. The EBCC recently vetoed legislation that would have reduced parking limits for affordable housing developments, impeding progress towards addressing our shortage of affordable housing.

Legislative Update
-
Find the list of bills we are tracking in the legislature here.
-
Areas of focus include statewide zoning reform, progressive taxations, climate urgency, and pro-labor legislation.
-
Lobby Day February 1st-3rd
-
Find more information here.
-
Why we need you:
-
Lobby Day is an opportunity to meet with our elected officials in the State House and Senate to advocate for legislation that further our goals as an organization. This is an amazing opportunity to make your voice heard and affect real change.
-
We will also be partnering with the Low Income Housing Institute
-
HB 1806 -- allowing for legislative aides to organize and discuss organizing with their peers -- will be a priority
-
Good of the Order
-
April 1st: YDA Event in Boise. Yuan plans on fundraising for travel.
-
Ryan: Suggested a potential YouTube presence to give more exposure for those short videos, hopefully local.
