Dear Friends,
Today marks the beginning of two very important celebrations.
First, I would like to wish you all a very happy Lunar New Year! I hope that the Year of the Tiger will usher in a year of prosperity, good health, and abundance. The Tiger has always been a symbol of strength, bravery, and courage.
Second, I want to honor the giants whose shoulders I stand on—black leaders who have paved the way. Particularly the matriarchs of my family, growing up in Louisiana, my grandmother started working on a plantation at five years old, and her persistence in civic engagement and the fight for liberation is why I’m in this work. Please join me in celebrating this rich history during Black History Month and all year. Without their contributions and sacrifices, we would not be the nation we are today. It is also essential to carry on the legacy left for us and continue pushing for a more just society for all.
One thing can be sure as we celebrate the past and look toward the future. Change has never been made alone. In this newsletter, there are straightforward ways for you to join us in our fight for a better nation, one that has a place for all of us.
Thank you so much for your support, and I look forward to fighting by your side.
Best,
Brencia Berry
