Hello John,
As you may be aware, NYCI is running a major campaign to increase volunteering in the youth sector and I’d like to update you on how you can get involved.
What we’re doing
As Ireland begins to reopen, we’ve been running print, broadcast and social media campaigns to inspire people across the country to consider volunteering with their local youth groups and encourage them to sign up for opportunities.
Many of you have shared stories of how volunteering has changed your lives, tens of thousands have directly engaged with the campaign and we’re delighted to say that we already have over 2,000 people signed up that have expressed an interest in volunteering opportunities, with more joining every day.
What you can do, John
If you’d like to find out more about how to volunteer:
We’re calling for people with all kinds of experience and skills to sign up today for information on how to get involved with volunteering for your local youth groups.

If you are in an organisation looking for volunteers:
We will shortly begin sharing volunteer opportunities with the 2,000+ people that have signed up and are eager for a chance to volunteer, so if your organisation is in need of volunteers send your volunteering opportunities to my colleague Sarah Burton [email protected] for inclusion in communications with this group of prospective volunteers.
If you’d like to help spread the word!
There are supports, images and sample posts in this toolkit, which you can use to share the message.
The Community is You: Volunteer Engagement Campaign is supported by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY). It came about in response to figures published in our research ‘Youth Work and Covid-19’ which found youth work volunteer numbers dropped by 64% as a result of the pandemic.
We look forward to seeing this campaign benefit you and the sector John, both in terms of the recognition of youth work and the re-engagement of volunteers, and we thank you in advance for your support in this important work.
Warmest regards,
Mary
