China should never have been allowed to host the 2022 Olympics - This is a global failure to hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable.Moving or postponing the Olympics would have sent the message that there are major consequences for committing genocide and crimes against humanity. The Biden administration failed to lead a global effort to shed light on the CCP’s grave human rights abuses, genocide against the Uyghurs, and coronavirus cover-up. The 2022 Olympics represented a major opportunity to shame the CCP and put global pressure on the regime. Both during and following the games, the U.S. must capitalize on growing domestic and international political will to hold China accountable for its many human rights abuses. America COMPETES China Proposal a ‘Trojan Horse to Pass Biden’s Liberal Legislative Agenda’ - Legislation supposedly aimed at confronting the China threat should actually deal with the China threat. Unfortunately, the America COMPETES Act largely fails to pass this simple test. Barring a handful of provisions, the bill’s nearly 3,000 pages have nothing to do with countering China. At a time when we need to focus on the myriad of threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party across the board, the left is using that same threat as a Trojan horse to essentially pass President Biden’s unpopular ‘Build Back Better’ agenda and dole out gifts to its constituencies. Instead of these unserious proposals, Congress needs to pass legislation that ends China’s intellectual property theft, holds them accountable for their covering up of COVID-19 and ongoing genocide of religious minorities, exposes their use of state-owned enterprises in America, and address the CCP’s aggressive behavior toward the international community.Heritage Experts: Dean Cheng, Olivia Enos, and Walter Lohman
Biden encourages massive illegal immigration and tries to hide it with secret flights - The list of lies administration officials have told regarding their handling of illegal immigration is extensive and still growing. When asked why the administration was flying illegal immigrants in the middle of the night, press secretary Jen Psaki belittled the reporter and then lied. By failing to detain or remove single adult males, the Administration has removed the last disincentive to illegal immigration. Heritage Expert: Lora Ries
COVID Hypocrisy: Policymakers Breaking Their Own Rules - Rules for thee but not for me? Some officials have violated their own rules more than once. Heritage Experts: John Cooper and Joel Griffith
Supreme Court can end racial preferences with Harvard and UNC admissions cases - By taking up two cases on affirmative action – one against Harvard College, the other against the University of North Carolina – the Supreme Court has given itself the chance to correct the great wrong of using racial preferences to select winners and losers. This comes not a minute too soon, as the Biden administration has introduced color-consciousness into all manner of policymaking.Ironically, these racial preference cases will be heard in the court’s next term by, among others, an associate justice who will have been picked primarily by virtue of her race and sex. President Biden has promised he will nominate only a Black female judge to replace retiring Justice Stephen Breyer. The use of race or national origin to pick winners and losers in academics, government benefits or anything else is morally repugnant and unfit for our multi-ethnic society. Moreover, it demonstrably fails to right any historical wrong. Only a madman keeps doing the same thing again and again, expecting different results. IRS Demands Smack of Big Brother - In the name of protecting taxpayer information, the IRS will compel even more taxpayers to give away extremely personal information to a private company. Making a private company a gatekeeper to certain taxpayer information hardly guarantees such information is safe from future leaks or breaches. When agencies like the IRS exert the power to trample on taxpayer privacy, it exposes the ever-increasing power of the executive branch. Heritage Expert: Preston Brashers
Meet Alvin Bragg, Rogue Prosecutor Whose Policies Are Wreaking Havoc in Manhattan - Manhattan’s new district attorney has implemented new pro-criminal policies that undercut the mayor’s and police commissioner’s mandate—just like all the other rogue prosecutors we have been warning about for almost two years. Alvin Bragg has taken his policies directly from the rogue prosecutor movement’s required playbook. Bragg’s policies are so bad—and dangerous—that the new police commissioner—Keechant Sewell—felt compelled to warn about their dire consequences.Sewell knows, as we have been warning, that cities that have elected rogue prosecutors have seen a dramatic increase in violent crime and crime overall, and her city will look like those others if Bragg acts like the other rogues. Bragg’s policies are likely to lead to the same mayhem in Manhattan, at a time when the borough and the city can least afford it. Heritage Experts: Zack Smith and Cully Stimson
Court throws Pennsylvania’s mail-in voting law into doubt - This Pennsylvania court did what courts are supposed to do – apply a state’s constitution as written. The Pennsylvania constitution only allows the legislature to provide absentee ballot options for individuals who are not able to vote in person for a specific reason. The state statute moving the state to no-excuse absentee balloting was clearly beyond the power of the legislature. Those criticizing the court decision, if they really believe expanding absentee balloting is a good idea, should follow the law and work to amend the constitution, letting the voters of the state make the decision. From a policy standpoint, expanding absentee balloting is not a wise idea because absentee ballots are the ballots most susceptible to fraud, error, and alteration, and make voters subject to coercion and intimidation in their homes since they are voted outside the supervision of election officials and outside the observation of poll observers. By Ditching Spotify Over Joe Rogan, Neil Young Embraces ‘The Man’ - Spotify is facing a musical mutiny. Joni Mitchell and The E Street Band’s Nils Lofgren have joined fellow classic-rock musician Neil Young in pulling their music off the platform because they don’t agree with controversial podcast host Joe Rogan. Young last week demanded that the music streaming service remove Rogan’s podcast, citing what he called “fake information” and “disinformation” about COVID-19 vaccines. What matters here is not how many hypocritical and washed-up artists rally to demand that Spotify dump Rogan. What matters is how Spotify responds. Rogan will continue to cause the platform some headaches, that’s a given. But the platform has a real opportunity to take a stand for free speech in a world that desperately needs it.
