Friday on MSNBC’s propaganda outlet The ReidOut ([link removed]) , radical Rep. Jamie Raskin ([link removed]) (D-MD) declared that former President Donald Trump owed his testimony to the House Select Committee investigating the unrest at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Raskin said, “Well, first of all, the public record as you’ve just shown it with the tweets, with his statements makes very clear what Donald Trump was up to. The whole name of the game was to put coercive pressure on Pence to ‘do the right thing’ by which Trump meant step outside of his constitutional role and declare unilateral unconstitutional powers to reject the electoral college votes. Essentially to declare himself a mini dictator for the purposes of allowing Donald Trump to seize the presidency for the next four years.”
False. This is nothing less than fact-free demagoguery on Raskin’s part, but that’s how he rolls.
He added, “If Donald Trump doesn’t show up, we’re going to resolve every adverse inference against him. He owes us his testimony like everybody else. There is no position in our constitutional constellation called former president or ex-president that gives you any immunity or exception from following the law. You’re just another citizen, and you have the obligation to render truthful, honest testimony to the sovereign when we come calling, and that’s the representatives of the people in Congress.”
When Democrats pretend to care about the rule of law, America rolls its collective eyes. Everyone, Democrats included, knows that this anti-Trump cabal of hypocrites (including RINO Republicans) is conducting a sham investigation to smear Trump and his supporters as domestic terrorists. Shame on them all.

At Trump’s impeachment trial on February 9, 2021, Raskin suggested ([link removed]) that the President had tried to bring the type of “tyranny and despotism” to America that Abraham Lincoln had warned of in his famous 1838 Lyceum speech where he also asserted that “if division and destruction ever come to America, it won’t come from abroad but will come from within.” Moreover, Raskin accused ([link removed]) Trump of trying “to overrun the power of the people in their elections and replace the rule of law with the rule of mobs.” “Hamilton in Federalist One,” Raskin added, “said, ‘The greatest danger to republics and the liberties of the people comes from political opportunists who began as demagogues and end as tyrants, and the people who are encouraged to follow them.’”
On February 13, the Senate voted 57–43 in favor of convicting Trump of inciting insurrection, thus falling 10 votes short of the two-thirds majority required by the Constitution for conviction and removal from office.
Despite Trump’s acquittal, Raskin, speaking at a Government Employees conference on February 21, said ([link removed]) : “We proved, in the court of history, that one Donald John Trump, a corrupt liar and a traitor, had incited rebellion.”
