Last week, someone told me something that I've been thinking a lot about. She said every time she thinks about sitting this election out, she thinks about what she’s willing to lose if Republicans take control of the House.
And her answer: nothing.
And you know what? Neither am I.
Because this cycle is about so much more than defeating Mike Garcia. It's about protecting reproductive rights and the right to decide what to do with your own body. It's about getting rid of the outsized influence of corporate lobbyists and billionaires over everyday people. It's about passing universal Pre-K and making higher education affordable so we are investing in the future of our children.
I'm not willing to risk anything but we know exactly what will happen if Republicans take control of the House in November. And the path toward maintaining our House majority runs right through this district.
This campaign is ultimately about making our political and economic systems work for all of us. Whether you’re a teacher or business executive, whether you’re a single mom or a working student, whether you rent or own your home, your representative and government should work for you.
John, that's why I'm running to be CA-27's next Congresswoman. I'm tired of seeing politicians undermine the values of working people to feed the coffers of their campaign contributors.
That's why I don't take corporate PAC money, and why I never will.
It's so important for our representatives and elected officials to do their job and actually represent the needs of the people. It's also why we cannot afford to sit this out and let Republicans seize control in Congress, there is just too much on the line.
