This is the final day of our January Membership Drive, and we haven't heard back from you, friend. Time is running out to
renew your LCV membership with a gift of $5 or more before our campaign ends.
We must make 2022 the year that Congress finally acts on climate change with solutions that match the scale of the problem. Right now, LCV is making plans and ramping up our campaigns to push leaders to act on climate-saving investments, clean energy, conservation, and environmental justice.
We can win these fights, but only through the full strength of our grassroots movement.
LCV has shown that we can go toe-to-toe with corporate polluters and other well-funded special interests, but we need the support of our members to make it happen. That's why we're asking:
Please, renew your LCV membership with a gift of $5 or more.
Here are just a few plans we have in store for 2022 — if supporters like you step up now:
- Secure historic investments to curb the effects of climate change. We must continue the biggest grassroots campaign in our history to push Congress to pass the strong climate provisions contained in the President's Build Back Better Agenda. Moderates and progressives agree — this is a once-in-a-generation chance to act boldly on climate change. Our grassroots campaign will fight to ensure that any legislation helps meet the science-based goal to cut 50 percent of U.S. carbon emissions by 2030, and we need your help to keep organizers on the ground and ads on the airwaves.
- Conserve our environment and public lands for future generations (30x30). LCV is supporting the Biden-Harris Administration's national conservation goal to protect 30% of lands and waters in the United States by 2030. Thanks to support from our grassroots community of environmentalists — and in solidarity with Indigenous communities — public lands like the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Tongass National Forest, Bears Ears, Grand Staircase-Escalante, and Northeast Canyons and Seamounts National Monuments are moving close to long-term permanent protections.
- Defend and strengthen our democracy. We can't have a healthy environment without a healthy democracy where every voice is heard and every vote is fairly counted. But right now, states across the country are passing laws to make voting harder, disproportionately affecting communities of color, young people, and disabled people. LCV and our state partners are working at the federal, state, and local levels to fight voting restrictions and advocate for voting rights, elevate these issues in the media, and counter deception and misinformation.
In short, we have a lot of work to do this year, friend — and we can't do it alone. We need the support of all LCV members if we are going to avoid climate catastrophe, preserve priceless ecosystems, and stop the sale of our democracy to the highest bidders.
Please, renew your expired LCV membership today. Until midnight tonight, every contribution will be triple-matched.
Thank you for your support. We hope you'll make the choice to support these critical campaigns this year.
