Today, we honor the service members who courageously fought to uphold our values and principles.

Time and time again, these brave individuals put their own well being and safety on the line. We owe them a debt of gratitude — and even though it is one we can never fully repay, it’s our American duty to try.

This starts by making sure that our veterans are given the care and resources they need after they return from combat. It is unacceptable that, right here in Georgia, our service members are experiencing long wait times for necessary and often life-saving medical procedures.

Worse, one hospital in our area is in the midst of a partial shutdown because they lack the critical resources needed to effectively treat their veteran patients.

This is not how we show gratitude. We must demand that our elected officials provide crucial assistance for our veterans — not just lip service.
